Hage on shortwave from Somalia
Radio Hage (Radio Leader) is a new shortwave station
transmitting from Galkayo, Somalia. Transmitter
and antennas for the station were installed already
in 2007, but the station finally came on the air
in April 2009. According to Australian ham radio
operator Sam Voron, who has been helping to set
up this and many other Somali radio stations, Radio
Hage operates with a power of 1.25 kW on the frequencies
of 3980 and 6915 kHz shortwave. Broadcast times
are listed as 0900-1000 and 0300-0500 UTC. The station
aims to be an independent and educational voice
in the war-torn country.

Esperanza new in Argentina on 1660 AM
Radio Esperanza from Virrey del Pino Partido de
La Matanza, in the capital Buenos Aires region,
has begun broadcasting on 1660 kHz on the extended
AM band. The station's FM programming on 88.3 MHz
is being simulcast on the AM frequency. The address
of Radio Esperanza is Volta, e/Vesalio y Dubalia,
Barrio Esperanza, (B1763) Virrey del Pino, Buenos
Aires, and telephone number
+(02202) 49-3745. Radio Esperanza has been heard
with mostly music programming by DXers in Argentina.
