Radio Maria logoRádio Maria has begun broadcasting on shortwave from Anápolis in the state of Goiás in Brazil. The Catholic station has reactivated an old transmitter on the frequency of 4885 kHz on the 60 meter shortwave band. Years ago the same transmitter (call letters ZYF692) was used by Rádio Carajás. According to Brazilian DXer Adalberto Marques de Azevedo, the license is owned by Foundation Nossa Senhora Aparecida. The transmitter power is listed as 1 kilowatt. Brazilian DXers have reported that Rádio Maria simulcasts its FM programming on shortwave. The FM transmitter (94.5 MHz) is located in Ceilândia, Distrito Federal. Rádio Maria broadcasts 24 hours a day, with live programming from 6 in the morning to midnight local time. The address of Rádio Maria is: Qna 05 Lote 20, Brasilia, Distrito Federal, Brasil 72110-050. The station can also be contacted by email. On the Brazilian Radioescutas mailing list the station was first reported heard on June 28.
