Richard D'Angelo, United States

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Rich has been married to Susan since 1973. They have two children, Adam and Jennifer. Rich received a BS in Economics from Brooklyn College in 1972 and his MBA in Finance from Pace University in 1976. Currently, he is employed by FirstEnergy, an electric utility as Manager of Rates and Regulatory Affairs for Pennsylvania.

Rich began DXing in 1964 when he discovered his brother's Hallicrafters S-85 communications receiver in the basement. His current receivers are a Drake R-8B and a Lower HF-150, which is used with an Alpha Delta DX SWL Sloper antenna and a RF Mini-Windom antenna. Rich has been an active member of many DX clubs over the years and has been a member of the North American Shortwave Association ("NASWA") since the first all Shortwave Broadcast issue in August 1966. He served as Chairman of the Administrative Committee for the first 2 North American DX Championships (1987 and 1988).

Rich has been very active in a number of DX clubs worldwide. Currently, he is the Executive Director for the NASWA and the North American Secretary for the World DX Club (England). In the past Rich has served as the Chairman of the Board for the Association of North American Radio Clubs ("ANARC"), Manager of the Company Store and Awards Program Chairman for NASWA. Also, he has been a member of the Board of Directors and Editorial Committee of the Society to Preserve the Engrossing Enjoyment of DXing ("SPEEDX").

Rich has participated in numerous DXpeditions over the years with the current site of choice being French Creek State Park in southeastern Pennsylvania. His primary focus is shortwave broadcast DXing. His major listening interests include Latin America and the Pacific region with a big soft spot for African stations. Clandestine stations and transatlantic pirate operations provide special niche interests. He has heard 225 radio countries and has verified 221 radio countries using the NASWA radio country list.
