Radio Antártida broadcasting from Argentina on 1010 kHz

Radio Antártida is yet another unlicensed station in Argentina, broadcasting on 1010 kHz mediumwave. Test transmissions were first heard by Marcelo Cornachioni in mid-June, and reported on Condig mailing list. Radio Antártida has announced that regular broadcasting was to begin on June 21. Before its current frequency, the station was briefly on the air on 1610 kHz mediumwave, retransmitting Radio Excelsior (730 kHz) from the city of Monte Grande. According to Cornachioni, both Radio Excelsior and Radio Antártida are owned by Raúl O. Prais, who also runs an FM station on 91.5 MHz.

Ukrainian Radio NART plans to broadcast on 873 kHz

Radio NART in Ukraine is planning to begin transmissions on 873 kHz mediumwave in June. DXer Boris Skurativskiy from Kiev reports in Open DX that Radio NART was granted a license for 873 kHz AM on June 7. Previously the station has transmitted only on the FM band with transmitters in Kiev, Kharkiv, Odessa, Vinnytsya and Kramatorsk. Former station manager Kyrylo Bulkin says to DXing.info that the station was more independent than its owners wanted it to be, which resulted in management and format changes. The earlier talk format has been replaced by locally produced music programming, although the station continues to relay the BBC and Radio Liberty. Bulkin also says that two thirds of the programming used to be in Ukrainian and the rest in Russian, but currently only Ukrainian programming is being broadcast. The station also identifies as Chesna Khvilya (Honest Wave).

Temporary DX station from Sweden on 1602 kHz

A special event station in Sweden will be on the air on 1602 kHz briefly this weekend. According to Swedish DXer Jan Edh, Fiskeboda Radio will transmit on June 10 and 11 at about 1900-0000 UTC with a power of 500 watts. Fiskeboda Radio is run by the Swedish DX Parliament, the annual summer meeting of Swedish DXers, which is organized this year by Norrköpings Distanslyssnare (NDL) in Fiskeboda at Lake Hjälmaren, between the towns of Norrköping and Örebro. The event on June 10-12 will be attended by some 30 DXers from Sweden and Finland. Reception reports can be sent to: Fiskeboda Radio, c/o Claes Olsson, Trestegsgatan 113, SE-60363 Norrköping, Sweden. Return postage is required for a QSL. The station can also be contacted by email.
      The station turned out to be a no-show because of technical problems. NDL has informed that they were only able to transmit a carrier, but not a modulated signal. The club hopes to try again within two months.
