Radio Centinela del Norte new on 4655 kHz
A station identifying as
Radio Centinela del Norte from an unknown location
in Peru has been heard on 4654.96 kHz shortwave.
Björn Malm picked up the station on Friday,
November 18, which he suspects was the first day
of transmission. Malm says that the station would
be transmitting at 1000-0200 UTC, although the first
test transmission ended already at 0130 UTC.

Argentinian
stations on 530 and 1380 kHz mediumwave
Radio
GBA (Radio Gran Buenos Aires) began broadcasting
in the Argentine capital on 1380 kHz in early November.
The station was first identified by Marcelo Cornachioni
on November 19, when it announced the beginning
of test transmissions.
Also in Argentina,
another new station has begun transmissions on 530
kHz mediumwave. La Voz de la Madres (also identifying
as Radio Madres de Plaza de Mayo) is run by La Asociación
Madres de Plaza de Mayo, and began broadcasting
on November 22. Information about Radio Madres de
Plaza de Mayo was published by Agencia Walsh, and
posted on Condig mailing list by Claudio Morales.

New South
American stations on 1060 and 1670 kHz
Rádio Haroldo de
Andrade is a new station transmitting from Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, on 1060 kHz mediumwave. The station
began broadcasting on November 7. News about the
station was published by TudoRadio website and quoted
by Antônio Schuler in srdxc-news on November
7.
In Argentina,
Central-AM1670 is a new station in the capital Buenos
Aires. The station was first identified by local
DXer Arnaldo Slaen on November 11, and reported
on Condig mailing list. Programming has consisted
of romantic music and Christian programming produced
by Escuela Científica Basilio. Marcelo Cornachioni
discovered that the address of the station is Calle
Rawson 53, (C1182ABA) Ciudad Autónoma de
Buenos Aires, telephone (011) 4983-6947, and that
the station can also be contacted by email.

Eastern
Radio transmitting to Eritrea on 909 kHz mediumwave
According to Sudanese newspaper
Al-Watan, a new Eritrean opposition station called
Eastern Radio has started test transmissions on
909 kHz mediumwave
in October. Eastern Radio is said to be broadcasting
at 0400-0700 UTC and at 1600-1900 UTC. The station
aims to promote the principles of justice, democracy,
peace and human rights in Eritrea. Officially the
station was launched on Eid al-Fitr, a three-day
festival marking the end of Ramadan in the Islamic
calendar. In most of the Muslim world, Eid al-Fitr
began on November 3. The political opposition will
get its voice heard, and programs will also cover
culture, civilization, arts and society. The station,
which is broadcasting in Arabic and Tigrinya, covers
the whole of Eritrea and some areas of neighbouring
states including Sudan and Ethiopia. The station
has not yet been reported heard by DXers. News about
the new station, published by Al-Watan on October
28, has been quoted by the BBC Monitoring Service
and DXLD.
