Changes on the Buenos Aires
AM dial
The AM dial in the Argentine
capital continues to change. Radio Rebelde from
Remedios de Escalada has begun broadcasting on 850
kHz. This station however appears to be a reincarnation
of Radio Ciudad de Lanús, which used to transmit
on 740 kHz. During its history Radio Ciudad de Lanús
had operated on a number of AM frequencies (1020,
1160, 1320, 1450 and 1560 kHz), and as soon as the
station signed off for good on 740, Radio Rebelde
appeared on 850 kHz. To confuse the identity a bit
more, Radio Rebelde has been heard rebroadcasting
Radio Independencia from 1140 kHz. According to
DXer Marcelo A. Cornachioni, the station is unlicensed,
but appears to be protected by both the local and
national government, and supports the government
in its programming. It is operated by Movimiento
de
Integración Latinoamericana de Expresión
Social (MILES). Cornachioni was the first to publish
news about the station on Condig mailing list on
April 13. Radio Rebelde can be reached by email.
Radio La Roca on 1530
kHz is another unlicensed station in the Buenos
Aires metropolitan area. This Christian station
can be found at Calle Fardman 4640, Gregorio de
Laferrere, Partido de La Matanza, Provincia de Buenos
Aires, with phone number (011) 4626-7749. Also this
station was first reported by Cornachioni on Condig.

power of 300 watts in early April, with a new antenna.
